Autumn

October first the weather cooled off.  It is much drier.   On the drive from Chukha to Thimphu everything has changed in 10 days.  The bright green paddy fields have turned golden.  The oak trees covering the mountainside are now turning colour.  Some of the paddies have been cut and the rice is laid down in beautiful patterns as it is being harvested.

I have always loved the smell and feel of the fall air.  Here it is especially nice as it dries up after the monsoon season.  The fog rolls in less often, the rain is short lived, rain becomes real storms with thunder and lightening and the sun gives beautiful golden light in the mornings.
