My Christmas Vacation

I spent Christmas week at a cabin in the Valhalla mountains with my family and 3 other families.  We have done similar Christmas trips in the past, but this year returned to the cabin where Rob and I were married over 21 years ago.
As soon as I walked into the soft snow deep int the mountains, the blanket of quiet settled and I felt a physical sensation of stress leave my body, lifting my heart.
Rob, Jon and I outside the Lodge on the last day.  We are waiting for the helicopter to come and return us to our busy, complicated lives.
Jon and I at the top of the last run of a great day.  It was  sunny and we had gone to a pass as a large group.  Here we are having a snack and waiting for the sun to drop before going back to the cabin for appetizers and a sauna.
Same day - walking up out of the valley fog towards the pass.

The company was fine, the conversations fun and the skiing outstanding.  I need to mention the fantastic food.  Each family prepared one or two suppers and we ate Indian, Greek, Mexican, Christmas Turkey and outstanding Canadian fare.  Hungry after hiking up mountains and floating down in the powder - amazing chefs:)

Preparing to teach in Bhutan

It all started in February last year  . . .   when I typed "Teach in Bhutan" into my search engine and found the Bhutan Canada Foundation website.  After applying in May and lots of interviews, paperwork and trepidation I leave in 3 weeks for a year long adventure teaching high school English at Chuka High School.
